Applause Sign

For this cosplay/masquerade project, we installed lighting for a costume inspired by Genie of the Lamp, from the classic scene in Aladdin where he has a flashing "Applause" sign over his head.

The client supplied the laser-cut acrylic text and headband, and we added ultra-thin aqua EL wire around the edges. When illuminated, the light can be seen from all directions, so it does a good job of mimicking real neon (which would not be practical to wear, for many reasons).

Wires run down from the headband, so the controller and battery pack can be worn in a pocket somewhere on the body.  The EL driver provides the flashing effect.
