Christmas Light Necklace

In November 2014, Enlighted was commissioned to build this necklace for one of the featured celebrity performers at a holiday fundraising event.

After so many years of explaining to people, “no, we do not use Christmas lights” it was amusing to build something that was intended to mimic the shape and tacky flashing style of older incandescent lights (but without the risk of having hot glass near the wearer's skin). We took the plastic shells from another set of lights, and substituted our own LEDs and custom controller.

The battery and LED driver are hidden in a pocket in the velvet ribbon bow on the back, and an extension wire runs to a finger-mounted switch to allow for easy control of a series of flashing patterns.
