LED Bodysuit

This undergarment was created to be worn underneath another costume, in a Broadway theater production. At a key point in the show, the lights would be triggered remotely by wireless DMX, creating a magical glowing effect on the performer.

The project required a high degree of durability on a stretchy fitted bodysuit, while adding minimal bulk to the costume. We selected miniature RGB LED pixels, sealed in epoxy, and joined by s-curves of thin stranded wire. The outer layer of the costume (not pictured) had light-colored areas that concealed the lighting when it was off, but allowed the light to shine through when they were turned on.
