Virtual Boy

We created this lighted costume in 2011, in support of Nathan Barnatt's "Virtual Boy" music video.

The base garment is a pair of black coveralls, illuminated with reinforced (but flexible) fabric panels that are outlined with red EL wire. The suit features the letters "V" and "B" on the two sides of the chest. The collar, shoulders, arms, legs, and belt are also illuminated with a variety of outlined shapes, so the body is identifiable in complete darkness.

We have included intentional gaps at the knees, elbows, and other major joints of the body to provide the best durability possible for ongoing use of an EL wire costume. The gaps also make it easier to fold for storage and transport.
