LED Pirate Costume

We were commissioned to install lighting on the coat and hat of this pirate costume. We filled in the gold banded pattern on the center front and cuffs, using closely spaced RGB LED pixels. The lights are then covered by a sheer rhinestone mesh fabric, which allows the light to pass through while concealing the wiring.

We also added RGB LED pixels around the outer edge of the hat, which has its own driver and power supply. As a final touch, the skull on the hat (with its own pirate hat), has red LEDs illuminating the eyes.

This is an updated version of an earlier piece that combined EL wire outlines with LEDs that faded through a continuous random rainbow fade.
