Orbit's LED Hat

Enlighted was commissioned to add lighting to an oversized costume hat for Orbit, the mascot for the Houston Astros. We had previously lit up his jersey, so this helped to complete his full "DJ Orbit" outfit.

The outlines on the hat are made with RGB LED pixels covered with a sheer dark blue fabric to conceal the wiring, while allowing light to pass through. The H and star logo on the front are decorated with single color white and orange LEDs mounted in the fabric, and wired together on the inside.

All of the LEDs are animated in a fast random flashing pattern, which also matches the default effect on the jersey. The battery in concealed inside the top of the hat.
